Rich in Nature
(a "tween" novel, by Annie Carty)
Chapter 1- Nobody's Perfect
"Nobody's Perfect!" the lyrics of Hannah Montana's song rang throughout the room. "Look at her beautiful, long, blonde hair, Katie!" exclaimed Amaya Justice Hodkins. Amaya Hodkins is an ordinary, everyday, fifth grade girl with pretty black braids. She stands out like a yellow leotard in a closet full of black bottoms and tops but blends in like a white puff in the clouds.
"Hey!" yelled Katie angrily, "You just tripped me... ON PURPOSE!!!" "You know the rules, Katie," said Brittany Charles calmly, "If you don't have pretty hair — oops!- you get tripped. Sorry, Katie, but life works that way sometimes." Then Brittany walked away laughing while Katie was red with fury and green with envy...

Ask Annie
Q-What should I do when people are mean to me?
A-Shower them with kindness. Return the favor by doing the opposite. They may not know at first, but soon they'll catch on and realize: "Hey! Who is that person in them helping them be kind to me even when I am mean to them? I want that person in me." And that special person is Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
Q-People always ridicule me because I am different. What should I do?
A-Be yourself and ignore their nasty comments. I know that it can be hard and times, but remember that God loves you the way you are and the world has no authority to take it away from you. As the song says, "Stand out if you want to stand with me!" ("Stand Out" by Mission 6)
