Health By Faith
“Whatsoever you do to the least of My brothers, that you do unto Me,” Jesus said.
(paraphrase Matthew 25:40)
If I came into the world with one eye
And I could not speak or hear
Would you love me any less?
Would you see my beauty
Although I am not healthy?
Because I would love you more.
If I came into the world and needed a wheelchair
And doctors said I would never walk
I make sounds but cannot talk
Would you love me any less?
Would you be happy with me
Although I am not healthy?
Because I would love you more.
If I came into the world with unusual features,
An oversized head or limb out of place
Would you love me any less?
Would you find joy in my smile
And peace on my face?
Because I would love you more.
So many parents pray for a healthy child
As though that’s all that’s paramount
But don’t my feelings count
Because I would love you more.
My love is greater.
My smile is wider.
If I don’t talk, I can’t complain.
Yes, I give you more work
But I don’t mean to cause you pain.
If God sent me here to love you,
Would you love me, too,
Doing unto Jesus Christ whatsoever you do?
God knows the thoughts He has toward me.
He made us all for a purpose,
A hope and an expected end. (Jeremiah 29:11)
So of this be certain:
I am as great a reward as a healthy child.
The fruit of your womb,
A heritage from the Lord for sure. (Psalm 127:3)
So please don’t love me any less
Because I would love you more.

Ricky and Shauna Carty started writing "By Faith" in November 2001, to witness to others about the power of God to reconcile broken marriages. By Faith in God, Ricky and Shauna reunited in marriage after a two-year separation. Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of their faith, they found forgiveness, peace, and continue to live their lives seeking first the kingdom of God. Some installments of "By Faith" can be found in the devotianal book,Green Pastures: A collection of Devotionals, Testimonies & Reflections.
